HDFC NIFTY SDL Plus G-Sec Jun 2027 40:60 Index Fund, an open-ended target maturity scheme, will close for subscription today. The scheme will re-open for continuous sale and repurchase within five business days from the date of allotment of units under NFO.

Wall Street's main indexes climbed on Tuesday after the rescue of Credit Suisse calmed nerves about a bigger banking crisis, while investors awaited the outcome of the Federal Reserve's monetary policy meet.

Following a sharp fall on Monday, European bank bonds rose once again, including Additional Tier 1 (AT1) bonds issued by companies such as Deutsche Bank, BNP Paribas, UBS and Credit Suisse whose bonds were written down to zero as part of a rescue merger with UBS. Holders of AT1 debt were told that they would only suffer losses after shareholders had been wiped out. The loss of Credit Suisse AT1s is believed to pose little or no risk to the stability of other European banks. However, the bank debt market remained vulnerable, according to Joost Beaumont of ABN AMRO.

He was reacting to UBS's rescue of Credit Suisse on Sunday, which has seen holders of Additional Tier 1 bonds lose everything while shareholders received $3 billion worth of UBS shares.

We expect the recovery to strengthen further. However, the upside still seems capped, citing multiple hurdles till 17,400 levels in Nifty. Besides, caution ahead of the outcome of the US Fed meeting would keep the volatility higher. Participants should align their positions accordingly while keeping a check on leveraged trades.
